Pet Policy

Cat photo By Karamellzucker - cc licensed on flickrThe Flint Area Consolidated Housing Authority allows residents to have a pet. The Authority will only allow domesticated dogs, cats, birds, and fish in aquariums at its properties. All dogs and cats must be spayed or neutered. No resident is allowed more than one (1) pet per unit. No pet can exceed thirty (30) pounds in weight. There is a pet deposit of $150.00 required at the time of registering the pet with the authority. Residents are required to show proof from a veterinarian stating that the animal is healthy and inoculated when they pay the pet deposit.

The pet ownership policy does not extend to animals that are used to assist persons with disabilities. Assistive animals are allowed in all public housing facilities with no restrictions other than those imposed on all residents to maintain their units and associated facilities in a decent, safe and sanitary manner and to refrain from disturbing their neighbors.
